While scouring the Internet to discover what sorts of amazing things people are doing with the wonders of 3D printing, Replicator World came across this gem.
Joel Wagner, from Mills River in North Carolina, owns a store on Etsy, eyephoriadesign. (You can also find him here) This isn’t your grandmother’s Etsy store, though. As Wagner explains, “my stylish jewelry combines unique designs with the technology of the future. Each ring, pendant, and earring is created with 3D printing technology and hand polished for a brilliant look.”
This is one of the great things about 3D printing: its flexibility. Using traditional molding tools, Wagner wouldn’t be able to unleash half his boundless creativity into his designs. For example, one of his most impressive creations is the VISOR ring (sterling silver). This ring, based on Chief Engineer Geordi La Forge’s visor on Star Trek: The Next Generation, is made with 24K gold plated accents using 3D printing technology. “Default size is US 9, but half sizes from 4.5-12 are possible at this time. Please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery.”
Or what about eyephoriadesign’s other creations? Such as this Superman Kingdom Come logo pendant or this Octopus Stainless Steel pendant? The variety of Mr. Wagner’s 3D printed jewelry designs really demonstrate the capabilities and flexibility of this technology.
If you want to create a ring based on Geordi Le Forge’s visor, then the world is yours, all thanks to 3D printing.
